Gardner Disposal - effective May 1, 2022
TRASH DAY -- Gardner collects trash, recycling, and yard waste (in proper brown paper bags, max 6 bags per pick up) on Fridays. PLACE Trash Containers curbside no sooner than 6:00 PM the night before pickup day (Thursday evening). [Note - it is the City of Overland Park and College Meadows who specifies the TIME), Place containers 3 feet apart, as separate trucks pickup mechanically. (3 Feet apart is the required room for mechanical arms to maneuver.) All containers must be returned to an out-of-sight location (preferably your garage, or behind a fence where they can't be seen from the street) by the end of the pick up day. NOTE: All thin plastic bags (like from grocery stores) are not recyclable.
YARD Waste -- all yard waste must be in the large brown paper bags (approximately 4 ft tall) which you can purchase at most home or hardware stores. We are lucky that Gardner Disposal will take up to 8 bags on any trash day, March through November. December through February, you can put out up to 8 yard waste bags on the last pickup date of the month.
*HOLIDAY Schedule - Gardner Disposal is closed on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Service will be delayed by one day during weeks that contain these holidays. That will mean a Saturday pickup day, so wait until Friday evening to put your trash out.
ONE BULK ITEM PICK UP ALLOWED ON THE LAST PICKUP DAY OF EVERY MONTH - Freon-related appliances, concrete or construction debris will not be accepted. Any additional items will carry and extra charge to the homeowner.
Trash Container STORAGE..... Per Overland Park City Ordinance and College Meadows Rules, containers must be stored OUT-OF-SIGHT. They can be stored in your garage or behind your backyard fence IF they are not visible from the street. PLEASE place Trash Containers back in storage as soon as possible, (rules state by the end of the day). Perhaps make an arrangement with a neighbor to return yours to your storage location if you will be out of town.
